Light bulbs have had a huge impact on society and are a massive part of the average person’s everyday life. Light bulbs have revolutionized the way people live, and the invention of the light bulb has led to several other inventions.

When Thomas Edison first patented the light bulb, people’s lives were hugely impacted. Since the invention of the light bulb, work hours started being extended into the night due to the higher visibility. Before light bulbs were available to the public, people could only work from dawn to dusk. Because of this, the production rates were a lot lower than when light bulbs started being used. Also due to the amount of light produced by light bulbs, workplaces were much safer. Besides impacting the workplace, light bulbs also changed the way society looked at entertainment. With the light bulb, people could talk, play games, and enjoy quality time with people they enjoy being around late into the night without having to worry about not being able to see. Light bulbs are very important for society because they changed the way people live.

Many inventions that play a significant role in society would not have been invented without the light bulb. Without light bulbs, today’s generation would still be listening to the radio for amusement rather than watching T.V. or playing video games. People would still be slowly handwriting all of their assignments when they could be typing them on a computer at a much faster pace. Nobody would have been able to explore Luray Caverns or the underground coal mines used by the early American settlers without a flashlight. Everyone would still be talking on telephones with giant cords that get tangled all the time. Also, since iPhones would not have been invented, no one would know what Trivia Crack or Geometry Dash is because those games would not exist. Without light bulbs, many of the inventions society considers to be common would not exist.

Light bulbs play a very important role in society. It is because of light bulbs that today’s generation can see what is in their refrigerator while eating a midnight snack. If it were not for Thomas Edison’s great invention, society would be so different that the current society would not even be able to imagine it.
